Flag of Country of Destination

After leaving Ireland on April 11, "Titanic" flew the Stars and Stripes from her Foremast top to indicate that the United States were her next country of destination. By April 1912, the blue field held but 46 stars. The stars representing Arizona and New Mexico who had gained statehood earlier that year were displayed only after July 4, 1912.
